Community Reference Guide

Pleasant Hill

Energy is a word that describes not only the community spirit of Pleasant Hill, but also the heart of its industry. Pleasant Hill is the home of Mid American's Energy Center which provides power for the entire Des Moines area.

The community's convenient location east of Des Moines is just three miles from I-80. The relocated Highway 65 bypass links Pleasant Hill even more conveniently with the Interstate and south Des Moines.

Pleasant Hill has plenty of room for residential growth. Large, affordably priced lots and the lowest crime rate in the metropolitan area have attracted hundreds of families to the community.

All the other amenities are here, too. Three municipal parks, two community centers, tennis courts and an area attraction - White Water University, a popular water slide park.

From the June Summerfest Celebration with its parade, fireworks and craft tent to the Hill of Lights, Holiday Lighting Festival, you'll know you have real friends in this close-knit community. You can feel the small town sense of caring.
